One Week to Go: Meet Us at the Wild Harvest Seafood Festival Market
There’s just one week to go until Mallacoota comes alive for the Wild Harvest Seafood Festival.
From Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September, the town will be celebrating the seafood, people, stories and wild places that make this corner of the coast so special.
And if there’s one place where all of those things come together, it’s the Wild Harvest Market.
On Saturday 26 September, the Lions Park will fill with local producers, fresh seafood, handcrafted treasures, live music, family activities and plenty of reasons to stay a while. The market runs from 8.30am to 2.30pm, and it really is the beating heart of the festival.

Come and find the Wild Harvest stand
Make sure you come and say hello at the Wild Harvest Seafood Festival stand.
It’s your chance to take a little piece of the festival home with you — and we’ve got some new ways to do exactly that.
Our Wild Harvest merchandise includes t-shirts, caps, stubby holders, aprons, magnets and tea towels. Whether you want something to remember your weekend, a gift for someone who couldn’t make it, or simply want to show a little love for Mallacoota and its wild harvest, there’s something for you.
You can take a look at the range before you arrive at the Wild Harvest online shop — then come and see the merchandise at the market.
But there’s another reason we’re particularly excited about this year’s market. Abalone.
A taste of Mallacoota’s history
For Mallacoota, abalone is much more than something delicious on a plate.
It is part of the story of the town.
Commercial abalone fishing in Victoria began in 1962, and that same year the Abalone Fishermen’s Co-operative was established in Mallacoota. For generations, divers, families and businesses have built their lives around the sea and the rocky reefs beyond the town.
The connection runs deep.
The Eastern Zone abalone industry stretches along Victoria’s eastern coastline from Lakes Entrance to Mallacoota, with generations of divers carrying knowledge of the coast, the reefs and the fishery forward.
Today, abalone continues to be one of the seafoods Mallacoota is famous for — and it sits right at the heart of what Wild Harvest Seafood Festival is about.
It’s wild food, local knowledge, skilled people and a connection to the water that stretches back decades.
The Wild Harvest Seafood Festival Market is a chance to taste that story. Visit our stall to grab some locally caught and produced abalone. Now that’s something worth celebrating.

One week. That’s it.
The festival starts next Friday, 25 September, and some of the events are already filling quickly.
If you’ve been thinking about booking the Seafood Feast at the golfy, Twilight Walk & Talk, Bush Foods Walk or one of the other limited-capacity experiences, now is the time to do it.
Places are limited and bookings are essential or strongly recommended for a number of events.
Don’t leave it until you arrive in Mallacoota.
Book now, then make a weekend of it.
Come for the seafood. Stay for the stories.
One week to go. We’ll see you there.
